Terms of Service

By accessing or using Karamelion (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Karamelion. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use after modifications constitutes acceptance.

Karamelion is a document-grounded legal learning platform that enables Nigerian law students to:

• Upload and organize legal documents, cases, statutes, and notes
• Interact with an AI assistant that provides answers grounded in uploaded source materials with inline citations
• Create notebooks, flashcards, and other study aids
• Participate in a community of learners through shared content

To use the Platform, you must:

• Be at least 16 years of age
• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

You agree not to:

• Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights of others
• Use the Platform to generate legal advice for real-world legal matters (the Platform is for educational purposes only)
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract AI models or proprietary algorithms
• Share account credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account
• Upload malicious content, malware, or content designed to disrupt the Platform
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Platform
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users through the community features
• Circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or usage quotas

Your Content

You retain full ownership of all documents, notes, and materials you upload to Karamelion. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Platform's services to you.

AI-Generated Content

Responses generated by the AI assistant are provided for educational purposes. While grounded in your source documents, AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are responsible for verifying any information before relying on it.

Community Content

Content you share through community features becomes visible to other users. You retain ownership but grant other users a non-exclusive, read-only license to view shared content within the Platform.

Karamelion offers both free and paid subscription tiers. For paid subscriptions:

• Payments are processed securely through our payment provider
• Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis
• You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period
• We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed

We strive to provide reliable, uninterrupted access to the Platform. However, we do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control.

The Platform, including its design, code, AI models, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Karamelion. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our written consent.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Karamelion shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content
• Loss of data or uploaded documents
• Unauthorized access to your account
• Service interruptions or downtime
• Reliance on Platform content for actual legal proceedings

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Karamelion, its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the Platform ceases immediately
• You may request export of your uploaded documents within 30 days
• We may retain certain data as required by law or legitimate business purposes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.
